MORE ABOUT FKEKK UTeM

Faculty of Electronic and Computer Engineering (FKEKK) started its operation since the formation of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) in 2001. FKEKK supports teaching and learning in electronics, computer and telecommunication engineering field.

FKEKK also conducting extensive extensive research and development activities comprising areas such as antenna & propagation, embedded system and electronic instrumentations.

FKE UTEM

Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) was established in early 2001 and it was operational by 22 June 2001. Initially, FKE was at a temporary campus in Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh, Melaka but on 3 May 2005, it was formally moved to the UTeM's main campus in Mukim Durian Tunggal, Melaka.

The Faculty has three (3) departments and they are the Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Department of Diploma Studies. The course is designed to create a balance between theory and practice in the field of engineering. It is therefore imperative that the lecturers and tutors have the necessary expertise to produce graduates who are academically and technically competent

ABOUT US:

The Faculty was established in June 2001 and comprises of four technical leading departments – Department of Thermal-fluids, Department of Structure & Materials, Department of Design & Innovation and Department of Automotive. Our goal is to be an ideal, dynamic and innovative faculty as well as to produce highly competent mechanical engineering graduates who have good moral and ethical values in their respective fields.

We have over 100 full-time academic staff, additional contract lecturers and technical support team looking after the strong needs of student community. Our objective is to offer high quality academic program by implementing Outcome Based Education (OBE) in mechanical engineering discipline in line with the current industrial requirement. We are also continuously producing competent graduates who have the ability to think critically, innovative and able to provide problem solution in the process of fulfilling human capital requirement.

We deliver an extensive and diverse range of undergraduates coursework and postgraduates mixmode programs. To support these needs, the Faculty has developed laboratory work to enhance the understanding of the theory given during lecture. The activities have been developed for students so that it will not only provide better understanding of the concepts learned but also skills in equipment handling and ability to solve problem given.

FKP UTEM

Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering was officially established on the 22nd of June 2001 after approval by the then Ministry of Education. The first course offered was Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering (Manufacturing Process) in November 2001.

However, foreseeing the nations fast-moving industrial development and its need for professional human resources in manufacturing engineering, the Faculty has added up new courses in the various fields of manufacturing engineering with the approval from the ministry starting from 14 April 2002

FTMK UTEM

Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FTMK) was one of the earliest formed faculty at Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia (KUTKM) on the 1st of December 2000. The Faculty started to operate on 22 June 2001 with its pioneer batch of students of academic session 2001/2002. Since 1st February 2007, KUTKM is known as Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)

The Faculty established 5 departments as below:

  • Department of Software Engineering

  • Department of Computer System & Communication

  • Department of Interactive Media

  • Department of Intelligent Computing & Analytics

  • Department of Diploma Studies

FPTT UTEM

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), which was incorporated in December 2000, is the 14th Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) in Malaysia. The Faculty of Technology Management & Technopreneurship (FPTT) was established on 19th March 2009 and has started its operations at the City Campus, in the heart of the World Heritage City of Historic Melaka.

FPTT has indeed created a history for being the sixth faculty to offer programs at Bachelor Degree level at UTeM. With its establishment, the faculty integrate a technology and business approach in enhancing the knowledge and skills of human capital. The FPTT curriculum was developed to address issues and challenges in managing the the force of globalization, rapid pace of technological changes, market and competition, product complexity, pressure of production cost, high cost and risk of research and development, and government regulations and market diversity.

Thus, FPTT plays a vital role in creating professionals at technology-oriented companies, employees at large firms, founders of start-ups with knowledge in the areas of technology management and technopreneurship. By diversifying the courses into both functional and practice-based, graduates will be competent with the skills in technical marketing, managing technical human resources, and leadership and communication.

A unique feature is that the program incorporates Internship, requiring students to do industrial attachment for 18 weeks. This provides students with invaluable working experience even before they graduated. The combination of classroom lectures and real life exposure enhance the employability of the graduates

FTKEE UTEM

Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE) was established on 1 July 2018, in consistent with the objectives of the establishment of Technical Universities under the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) which aims to educate and train highly skilled manpower to contribute to the advanced industrial countries (world class industrial nation), and a catalyst for national strategies in achieving national higher income.

UTeM moves forward to become the first Technical University and IPTA which offers 10 Engineering Technology Programs in September 2011. This is to offset the vacancies of professional team called the Engineering Technologists which are required by the industry.

According to National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), “Engineering technology programs are oriented toward application, and provide their students introductory mathematics and science courses, and only a qualitative introduction to engineering fundamentals. Thus, engineering programs provide their graduates a breadth and depth of knowledge that allows them to function as designers. Engineering technology programs prepare their graduates to apply others' designs”.

Meanwhile, Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) stated that, "Engineering technology is the profession in which a knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences gained by higher education, experience, and practice is devoted primarily to the implementation and extension of existing technology for the benefit of humanity. Engineering technology education focuses primarily on the applied aspects of science and engineering aimed at preparing graduates for practice in that portion of the technological spectrum closest to product improvement, manufacturing, construction, and engineering operational functions".
